ENARADA, Bhubaneshwar, July 23, 2014:
Students of KiiT International staged a protest march on July 23, 2014 against gang-rape of a six-year-old Odia girl in a reputed school in Bangalore.
On July 2, a six-year-old first grade student was raped allegedly by two gym instructors at the elite Vibgyor High School in the city. Students of KiiT International School expressed their dejection on the matter.
Thousands of students holding placards staged a rally from KiiT International School to KIIT Square demanding speedy justice for the victim.
Voicing deep concern on increasing incidences of rape and other crimes in schools, they demanded Government to take decisive steps to check the trend.
Students gave importance to awareness programmes in schools, and sought special laws for this. They demanded maximum punishment to the culprits under the law.
On the other hand, students of KiiT International School invited the girl to take admission in KiiT International School, provided her parents agree.
It was heartbreaking to know about the crime, said Dr. A. Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS. It is now most important to change the general attitude towards girls and women in the society. Value education should be included in school curriculum, he added.
