“As a strong believer of destiny and almighty God,I would honestly try to execute my duty, in the interest of society. I may or may not bring good name to Karnataka state, but assure you that I will not bring bad reputation to the state,” he said.

Supreme Court Judge, Justice  V.Gopala Gowda, acknowledged the role of Mrs.Gayathri Dattu in the successful journey of H.L.Dattu. He further added that ‘Bar Council of Bengaluru’ is popular across the country and after his retirement, he will  train young advocates from Karnataka to realise their potential.

Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court, Justice D.H.Waghela, wished Chief Justice H.L.Dattu  to continue in his mission of clearing the maximum number of cases in a day.

Advocate General of Karnataka, Prof. Ravivarma Kumar, requested the new Chief Justice to use the provision given in article 130,  to sanction a Supreme Court Bench in southern part of India, preferably in Bengaluru.

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said he too practiced law for around nine years but due to his involvement in politics, he could not intensely pursue the profession and later became a full time politician.  He expressed heartfelt compliments to the new Chief justice as he has grown to that level without a godfather.

All the speakers were hailing the simplicity, honesty and integrity of Justice H.L.Dattu who has risen to highest post only by dedication and hard work, as he has not come from a family of Advocates or judge but from a family of a school teacher.

Justice H.L.Dattu is the fourth Justice from Karnataka to become the Chief Justice, Supreme Court of India. Earlier,Justice E.S.Venkataramaiah, Justice M.N.Venkatachalaiah and Justice M. Rajendra Babu had occupied the post.
