Advocates and Government employees were extremely happy when the news of Karnataka Administrative Tribunal (KAT) and Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) offices are coming closer to Vidhana Soudha and Courts.
Advocates were complaining about wasting precious time in traffic to reach the court halls of KAT and CAT offices at BDA complex, Indiranagar.
Over a persistent demand from Advocates, KAT recently moved in to new premises at 7th Floor, Kandaya Bhavan, K.G.Road but CAT is reluctant to shift their office to 6th floor, Kandaya Bhavan citing high rent.
Sources from CAT said that the rent in the newly built Kandaya Bhavan is very much on a higher side and their rules does not permit them to shift it to new premises.
Since the KAT has moved in to new premises but CAT is still functioning from Indiranagar office, advocates are facing a new problem. Earlier they used to attend to the cases of KAT and CAT at one go but now they have to shuttle between KAT and CAT court halls.
This ‘shuttle’ between K.G.Road and Indiranagar is putting more pressure on advocates especially when they have to appear for their cases in both KAT and CAT on the same day.
However the Bangalore Advocates’ Association is optimistic in getting the problem solved by pursuing with CAT and persuade them to shift their office to the new premises at the earliest.
Speaking to ENARADA.COM, A.P.Ranganth, General Secretary of Bangalore Advocates’ Association said that in order to help the advocates, association was struggling hard for many years to persuade the KAT and CAT authorities to shift their offices near to City Civil Court, Cheif Metropolitan Magistrate’s court and High Court.
“We are confident that CAT will occupy the 6th floor of Kandaya Bhavan as early as possible. They too understand the misery of Advocates who have to attend different courts” Ranganth said.
