The tribes follow simple occupations based on simple technology such as hunting, gathering and agriculture. As tribal land and natural resources is vanishing due to various reasons ,tribes are struggling hard to live.
To give Tribes hope for better future, Achyuta Samanta, visionary who founded Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), to educate tribal children, has suggested entire Tribal community to educate themselves and find other areas to work for sustaining. He was addressing a gathering of Tribal people (Guardians of students studying in KISS).
“Education alone can ensure a dignified life to you (Tribals), as the traditional way of living is now impossible due to lack of natural resources,” opined Achyuta Samanta.
KISS organized a mega guardians’ meet on December 30, 2014. More than 50,000 tribal people including parents and guardians of tribal students of the institute, attended the meet.
The rare assembly representing 62 tribes and 13 primitive tribal communities from all corners of Odisha and other states like Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and Assam, was a feast to watch.

During the day long program, parents and guardians got a firsthand experience of the institute where their wards are studying.
Like every year, KISS authorities made elaborate arrangements like food, shelter and transport, to host the parents in this mega assembly.
Parents expressed their profound gratitude to Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS for securing the future of their children through KISS, which provides education from KG to PG, vocational training, food, accommodation and all other basic necessities of life absolutely free of cost to 22,500 tribal children.
They were satisfied to see that their children are getting education and care at par with any good public school in a beautiful environment. On the other hand, they expressed unhappiness that their children are becoming demoralized as few people with vested interest are continuously running propaganda against KISS to defame the institution.
