BEL employee wins PM’s Shram Shree Award

Mr Jinesh H N, an employee of Navratna Defence PSU Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), has been selected for the Prime Minister’s Shram Shree Award for the year 2013.

Mr Jinesh, who works as Junior Section Officer in the Military Radar Strategic Business Unit (SBU) at BEL’s Bangalore Complex, has been awarded the prestigious award for his overall contributions in the areas of indigenisation, product and productivity improvement, cost reduction, obsolescence management and import substitution.

The Government of India, on the eve of the Independence Day, announced the Prime Minister’s Shram Awards for the year 2013, to be awarded to 40 workers employed in departments and PSUs of Central and State Governments.

Mr Jinesh was inducted into BEL in 1996 as an Engineering Assistant Trainee.

Presently, he is working in the Product Design Group of Military Radars SBU at BEL-Bangalore. He is looked upon as a resource person for information on legacy projects and guides freshers on engineering documentation. He was actively involved in the refurbishment of Cymbelline Radar for the Egyptian Army during 2001. He has contributed to the indigenisation of spare parts for the motor generator set of Flycatcher Radar, which has resulted in cost reduction.

He has been participating actively in the ‘Suggestion’ and ‘Indigenisation’ schemes of BEL.

Till date, 65 of his suggestions have been rewarded by the Company, resulting in a savings of over Rs. two crores, sources at BEL said.
