BIAL now an ISO 50001:2011 Energy Management System Certified Company

BIAL has been certified for ISO 50001:2011 Energy Management System, marking another landmark towards creating a greener environment.

The certificate was presented by Mr. Suresh B L and Mr. Radhakrishnan, DNV (Det Norske Veritas) – an independent foundation for safeguarding life, property, and the environment.

BIAL was chosen for this certificate for its commitment and consistent initiatives towards maintaining ecological balance and minimizing adverse impact on environment. The adoption of ISO 50001:2011 system enables BIAL to achieve its policy commitments, take action as needed to improve its energy performance at the airport. This includes energy cost reduction, greenhouse gases reduction, waste minimization, resource conservation and compliance with legal requirements.

ISO 50001:2011, the ISO standard on energy management system, is a framework which draws the attention of organisations towards enhancing their existing energy efficiency. It takes into account the parameters of energy consumption and energy efficiency of the organization.

Commenting on receiving this certificate G V Sanjay Reddy, Managing Director, BIAL said, “With this ISO 50001 certification, BIAL has added to its existing portfolio of green initiatives. We are truly delighted to receive our first ISO 50001 certificate and will continue to work towards creating, conserving, and ascertaining a safe and clean environment for sustainable development.”

Mr. Suresh BL, DNV said, “This certification is recognition of a series of green initiatives adopted by BIAL over a period of time, marking another milestone towards the airport’s efforts in creating an ecological sustainable environment”.
