Short filmmaking is a form of its own, much different from feature length films.

Crispness, an essential aspect of shorts, contributes to making an impression in each second of the film.

Budding filmmakers start off with this form in an attempt to prove their talent. Some of the greatest artists of our time have made short films to develop their trademark visual style and explore themes that would recur in their longer feature length films. Today while the internet offers visibility, festivals continue to provide a great platform for recognition for these short films.

Suchitra proudly presents the 4th Bangalore International Short Film Festival (BISFF) on August 22-24, 2014.

• Over 500 short films have been submitted

• Coming from over 6 continents, 50 countries and more than 65+ languages.

• Around 30% women filmmakers have submitted their films.

The short movies include International Competition & Non-Competition films and the best short film packages from BAFTA (UK), InterFilm (Berlinale, Germany) in collaboration with Goethe Institute, Swiss Nex Films (Switzerland) & Indian Film Project.

Kannada short films will be screened at special section Karnataka Korner, which not only includes films from all over Karnataka but also films made in other languages in Karnataka.

The chief guest for BISFF ’14 are Rakshit Shetty (Actor/Director). The event would see various seminars and workshops. Director Rakshit Shetty would be taking up a case study on his Kannada film Ulidavaru Kandante. A live sound recording session would be performed by Jamie De Silva. Noted theater and media personality, Prakash Belawadi, would review the short films that are to be screened.

The delegate registrations are now open for the three day festival. The delegate pass for non-students is Rs.300, and for students is Rs.200 (Nominal fee, for providing Festival Books, Bags & Coffee/Tea – for the Delegates/Participants). It is great news that already 40 filmmakers have confirmed to attend the festival. The Karnataka Cinematographers Association has extended their full support towards this short film festival.
