BJP may go for primaries to select it’s candidates for the 2018 polls. Hinting at these drastic measures, BJP’s state unit president BS Yeddyurappa said that the party would conduct a survey to know the most popular leader in each constituency so that they be made the party’s official candidate.

According to BSY, this would help the party to assess the people’s pulse and choose the deserving candidate.

It may be recalled that the US-style primaries are fast catching up among the political parties in our country. As per the guidance of Rahul Gandhi, the Congress experimented the primaries in the previous Lok Sabha elections at Benglauru and Mangaluru. Going for a primary is to do away with the High Command’s choice.

The primaries will not only help the parties’ to assess the people’s pulse but will also bind the losing candidate to ensure victory for the victor.

Speaking to Enarada.com, BSY also clarified that his party will not have any tie-up at regional level and would go all alone in all the 224 assembly constituencies and was hopeful of winning at least 150 seats.
