The state government will provide an opportunity for B.Sc. graduates from the coming academic year to join engineering course.

Higher education minister R.V.Deshpande said this while speaking at the online counseling programme for students seeking admission to diploma courses at JSS Women’s Polytechnic in Manasagangotri here last night.

However, from this year onwards, B.Sc. graduates too can seek admission to 3rd sem. engineering through lateral selection.”

He also said that for the first time in the country admission to polytechnics was being made online to establish transparency like the way it was done for admission to engineering and medical colleges.

Software Engineer Ravi Talwar, responsible for developing the software for the online process of admission, was feted on the occasion .

The online counselling began eight days ago simultaneously at 11 centres in the State and so far, 11,600 students were said to have obtained admission to polytechnics.
