Bangalore, April 12, 2013:

BT, one of the world’s leading providers of communications solutions and services, announced today the opening of a new Global Development Centre (GDC) in Bangalore.

The centre is designed to further enhance BT’s ability to design and deliver world class service to its customers and support its expansion in high growth regions. Over the next 18 months the Bangalore GDC will hire up to 600 highly skilled software development engineers.

The new facility joins BT’s global network of development centres in Ipswich (Adastral Park), Belfast, Cardiff and Glasgow in the UK and Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. These centres are operated by BT TSO, the Technology, Service & Operations organisation supporting all of BT Group’s lines of business.

Using the latest collaboration technology, the Bangalore teams will work closely with service design colleagues in the UK on the development, upgrades, migration and architecting of IT services. They will be a core part of BT’s drive to simplify and speed up its business processes.

Speaking at the launch, Ian Livingstonchief executive officer, BT Group, said “ We are confident that our new Bangalore facility will attract some of India’s best talent, to the benefit of our customers all over the world. India has become a hotbed of innovation and a rapidly growing market for sophisticated networked IT services in its own right “.
