Congress gears up for local body elections in Karnataka

Bangalore, February 16 : In the backdrop of the state election commission announcing elections to 7 city corporations and 201 City Municipal Councils, Town Municipal Councils and Town Panchayats across the state on March 7 , Karnataka Congress (I) unit held a serious meeting today at a private hotel on the outskirts of the city.
Almost all the senior Indian National Congress leaders of Karnataka including Madhusudan Devram Mistry , in charge of Karnataka Congress affairs , President of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee Dr. G.Parameshwar, Leader of the opposition Siddaramaiah, S.R.Patil , Oscar Farnandes, B.K.Hariprasad, Union Ministers Mallikarjun Kharge , K.H.Muniyappa, Veerappa Moily, D.k.Shivakumar, C.K.Jaffer Sheriff , Dharam Singh , Janardhan Pujari,Allam Veerabadrappa and others totaling 44 congress leaders attended a meeting to chalk out a plan for winning the local body elections.
Congress is planning to release a separate election manifesto for Bellary , Mangalore, Mysore, Gulbarga, Davangere, Belgaum and Hubli-Dharwad city corporations and other City Municipal Councils which is due for the elections.
President of the KPCC Parameshwar informed the media that today’s meeting was confined only to the Local Body elections and not discussed about any issues related to the general elections which is due in April- May this year.
