A day long Mangalore film festival to commemorate 100 years of India cinema organized jointly by Malani Talkies and Alliance Francaise Mangalore Chapter was held at Roshani Nilaya on Sunday April 21, 2013.  The festival was inaugurated by Msngr Rev Fr Dennis Moras Prabhu.

Speaking on the occasion Fr Moras lauded the initiative taken by Malani Talkies to mark 100 years of Indian cinema.  Fr Moras also acclaimed Sandeep Malani’s achievements in the field of cinema.

Sandeep Malani speaking to enarada.com stated that the Mangalore Film Festival also celebrates 80 years of Kannada, 60 years of Konkani and 40 years of Tulu cinema in India. Therefore many regional language cinemas were screened at the film festival.

Coordinator Alliance Francaise De Mangalore Larkins D Souza stated “Alliance Francaise is an international organization aimed at promoting French language and culture around the globe. “Joueuse”, a French movie was screened at the festival at 12.30 pm  with a special touch to Mangaloreans.

The following films were screened at the film festival.

Mog ani Maipas (Konkani)  Ksheeranjali (Kannada)  Joueuse (France)  Badhi (Tulu)  Devalo Ugdasu (Konkani)  Jo Jo Laali (Kannada).   Jan Leva 555 (Hindi) directed by Sandip Malani was also screened at the film festival.  Film connoisseurs   from different parts of the city took full advantage of the day long festival and enjoyed viewing films of diverse languages and cultures.
