Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner N Prakash has asked the district administration to gear up to face the monsoon by completing the task of desilting all side drains in the city. Addressing officials of MCC Prakash said that huge storm water drains have already been cleaned up.
The DC has also instructed the officials to speed up the work suspended on account of the elections. He warned that action will be taken against contractors failing to complete the work before the stipulated date by suspending their contracts.
Chief Superintendent Engineer of Mangalore City Corporation informed during the meeting that so far six flood prone areas have been identified and a task force comprising ten teams has been set up to handle eventualities related to monsoon. MCC Commissioner Dr Harish Kumar was present on the occasion.
