Navika 1It will be dream come true for 32 folk artistes from the state who are finally heading to the United States to perform at NAVIKA-2015.

Despite preparing for months, the artistes were in the fear of missing out this prestigious programme due to visa related issues.

However, at the last minute, artistes got an appointment at the US embassy and some were given visas.

Confirming this to Enarada.com over email on wednesday, NAVIKA vice-president Harsha Gopal said, “We just got confirmation that 32 folk artistes got visa and will be performing at NAVIKA 2015.”

These artistes will be performing at the third world Kannada summit of NAVIKA (North America Vishwa Kannada Association, scheduled to be held from September 4-6 at Raleigh, USA).

Enarada.com was first to report as to how Karnataka’s famed artistes had last minute jitters before heading to Navika. Despite preparing for months, they had to miss the visa interview date as Minister for Social Justice H Anjanyea (who was nominated by state government) couldn’t attend the visa interview at Chennai due to his busy schedule. Later, the artistes re-grouped under the leadership of theatre artiste Kappanna and headed to Chennai for the visa interview.

NAVIKA is a non-profit organization in the United States of America created to promote and enrich the very rich cultural heritage of Karnataka. It is estimated that more than 60,000 people from Karnataka are living in the United States of America. This year, a host of programmes have been planned for NAVIKA from Bhavageethe and Janapada geethe to Sitar/Hindustani recital and from Lambani Nruthya to comedy shows. This year’s NAVIKA will feature ‘star’ power as top artistes like Upendra, Yash, Radhika Pandit and Srinath have confirmed their participation. Though the stars have no visa issues, it is only the traditional artistes who are still hoping to showcase their talent at NAVIKA.
