Bangalore, June 1, 2013:

HAL is in the process of streamlining its procurement process, particularly on imports and adopt best global practices, said Dr. R.K. Tyagi, Chairman, HAL.

Inaugurating the second Global Vendors’ Meet organised by the company here today, he further added that for the first time the company has introduced a Grievance Redressal Mechanism where bidders aggrieved by any decision can make an application to the Grievance Redressal Committee at divisional and complex levels. “What matters is understanding of each others’ concerns and finding out workable solutions with the least lead time”, he added.

Around 110 vendors – half of them representing foreign countries- were present at the meet started as annual feature last year.  In 2012-13, HAL made major purchases from 566 suppliers from 27 countries including 270 from India.  The company has reviewed its purchase procedures and has come out with the revised purchase manual besides introducing online bill tracking system.

Dr. A. K. Mishra, Director (Finance) in his welcome address called upon the business partners to make use of the new changes brought out by the company. “Our robust relations should result in the cost reduction which is the need of the hour”, he said.

The vendors actively participated in the Q&A session and appreciated the action taken report on the feedback and suggestions given during the last meet in 2012.
