ENARADA, Bangalore, July 10, 2013:

The Chief Minister of Karnataka Siddaramaiah today launched the State Government’s most ambitious ANNA BHAGYA SCHEME, where BPL Families will get 30 K G of Rice at Re 1.

Speaking after launching the scheme, he said that the scheme was a congress government’s commitments in their manifesto for which the people of the state have voted to power .The scheme which launched in all the districts of the state and will benefit 98.35 laksh antyodahya anna yojana and BPL card holders across the state.

By weighing the rice in Bio-Matric Weighing Machine E-Padithara and handing over it to the first beneficiary in Bangalore, he fulfilled the promise of his party manifesto.

The Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Mr Dinesh Gundu Rao, Legislator from Shivaji Nagar Mr R. Roshan Baig and other MLA’s, were present.

The district in charge minister and Revenue Minister V Srinivasa Prasad today launched  the  state  government’s   popular programme of ‘Anna Bhgya scheme’ for the BPL card holders in  the Mysore district.

Incidentally, the programme was organized at sharadavilas education institutions, from where the revenue minister completed his education.  Even the chief minister Siddaramiah , also studied his LLB in the same institutions.

If the scheme has to success, the officials who involved in the concern department should implement the government’s scheme and see that it should reach the beneficiaries, at the same time the beneficiaries should avail the facilities, he added.

He cautioned the officials and  PDS shops  for severe actions against the misuse of the scheme and called for taking up more  responsibility  in implementing the scheme.

He said the UPA’s recent food security bill would enable to help the poor and things are expected to ease on the financial front soon. He said the ordinance on food security, issued by the Centre, would in a big way benefit the State’s rice initiative as more people can be included in it with additional subsidy. At present the country is self sufficient  in food production he added.

He agreed that the state government alone could not possible to provide required rice for the people and wanted to relay on the other states and the union government for the sufficient amount of stocks of rice to fulfill the scheme.

The minister distributed the rice to few beneficiaries on the occasion.  MLAS Tanveer sait,  Somashekhar, G T Deve gowda  also spoke on the occasion.
