Hit and run accident of policeman on duty, killer driver arrested

After two months of the hit and run  accident  the hectic efforts of Mulki police have paid rich dividend when they  succeeded in tracing the lorry driver who had killed Rajappa,  the costal security policeman on duty at Bappanadu, near Mulki on April 5, 2013.

The arrested lorry driver is identified as Lohith (23) a resident of Basavapura, Davanagere who was finally arrested in  Chitradurga.

It may be recalled that Rajappa who was manning the traffic along with two other coastal security policemen near Bappanadu check post when a speeding lorry rammed into him and sped away, killing Rajappa on the spot.

Mulki police who had taken up the investigation of the hit and run case, traced the lorry to Chitradurga and arrested its driver Lohith on May 29, 2013.

The police had used CCTV footage from Hejamadi in its investigation and found similarities in an accidedent case at Udupi involving a lorry.  They found similarities between the Udupi case and the CCTV footage from Hemjamdi which helped in tracing the culprit.

From the Udupi case they collected the mobile number of Lohit and succeeded in tracing him in Chitradurga.
