Home stay Attack: Case against journalist Soorinje withdrawn, four accused get bail

The state cabinet in its meeting yesterday has decided to withdraw the criminal case registered against journalist Naveen Soorinje in the infamous “Morning Mist” home stay attack incident of July 18, 2012.  Naveen Soorinje who was arrested on November 7, 2012 in connection with the incident was released on bail on March 23 this year.

Soorinje was arrested after a case was filed against him under different sections relating to indecent portrayal of women, abetment to outraging the modesty of women, decoity and other offences.

Four involved in home stay attack get bail

In another related development, four of the accused in the home stay attack have been granted bail by the High Court today.  A single member bench of the court has granted bail to the accused – Shailesh Shetty, Rajesh,  Taranath and Shailesh on a bond surety of 20,000/.   Their release on bail has come as a big reprieve for nearly 40 people who are in jail for nearly a year now following the Morning Mist home stay attack.
