By adding four new young zebras, Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, Mysore is set to attract more visitors.

Israel’s Ramat Gan Safari Park at Tel Aviv has gifted these two male and two female zebras aged between 12 and 18 months.

It was acquired as per the approved animal collection plan of Mysore zoo and Zebras will be used for both public display and captive breeding, according to zoo officials.

Zebras have arrived in Mysore zoo after a long time. They were last acquired in 1990 from Germany.

Pramodha Devi Wadiyar, widow of scion Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar, today released the newly-acquired animals, into their enclosure.

Following a request from Zoo authorities, public had suggested 350 different names. From the lot, Pramodha Devi selected names ‘Dazzle’ and ‘Sudheer’ for two male zebras,  ‘Dawn’ and ‘Riddhi’  for two female zebras, in a naming ceremony event.
