ENARADA,Bangalore, August 7, 2013:

The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) is all set to celebrate 75 glorious years of its inception. KSCA commemorated the journey by announcing the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore today. The Association has planned a series of events, culminating into a star-studded gala event on August 17, 2013. Present on the announcement were Anil Kumble, Hon. President – KSCA, Javagal Srinath, Hon. Secretary – KSCA, legendary cricketer Syed Kirmani and Tallam Venkatesh, Hon. Treasurer – KSCA.

Over the decades, the Association has pursued cricketing excellence with steadfastness, resulting in a legacy that is best described as legendary. KSCA is now one of India’s most professionally run associations, with some of the world’s best known cricketers coming from its folds. From domestic triumphs to India’s international victories, KSCA has played its part with aplomb, be it in the form of players or as a cricketing venue of global standards.

Marking the commencement of the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations,  Kumble said “It is a momentous day for all of us here at KSCA. The Association’s unwavering dedication to the cause of cricket ever since it was founded in Mysore in the 1930s has made us stay proud of our history. As I stand here and look back at how we have reached this stage, I am filled with great pride and gratitude. With this Platinum Jubilee Celebrations we would like to remember our predecessors with fondness and with an overwhelming sense of appreciation of their dreams which allowed people like us to realize our dreams. Through the many ups and downs we have soldiered on as a tribute to the visionaries of yore to whom we are both answerable and accountable.”

Honouring this monumental landmark, Venkatesh unveiled the official Mascot for the 75 years celebrations, ‘Doodly’. Addressing the gathering, Venkatesh, said, “Today as we celebrate this glorious landmark in KSCA’s history, it is a great time to reminisce and also forward to new challenges. We are making continuous efforts to develop the infrastructure and ensure that it permeates to every corner of Karnataka. Just like 11 players of a cricket team, on field, we also must form a cohesive unit to take Karnataka cricket to the next level.

Taking a walk down memory lane, Kirmani recalled all his fond memories associated with KSCA. Speaking on the occasion, he said, “It is an honour to be on stage reveling in the days gone by and to derive inspiration from KSCA’s heritage. As you would be aware the RC KSCA Academy is now present across the State and we pride ourselves on not just the level of training imparted but also on quality and uniformity. However, more than just cricket we strive to instill a sense of culture in the youth and take them through the rich legacy of KSCA and the State.”

Srinath in his message said: “It is indeed a great occasion that we are celebrating our Platinum Jubilee. It is a tremendous feeling of pride for KSCA and befitting such an occasion, we have lined up an exciting calendar of events proceeding the biggest gala evening on the 17th of August.”

As a run-up to the gala evening, KSCA has planned exciting events for its members, including a weekend flea market that promises to indulge you in some retail therapy with an array of eclectic products – cricket memorabilia, clothing, accessories, jewelry, paintings,  stationery and home decor and a chance to interact with your favorite cricketers and an exclusive club night – celebrating some of the oldest clubs affiliated with KSCA, while the main event – Awards Night, will see the likes of Sachin Tendulkar , Sourav Ganguly, Virender Sehwag, Kapil Dev, Bishen Singh Bedi and Sir Richard Hadlee – who claimed the record for highest number of wickets from Ian Botham by scalping the 374th test wicket in 1988 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Amongst the others present were our Karnataka cricket stars G.R. Vishwanath, E.A.S. Prasanna, B.S. Chandrashekar, Rahul Dravid, Roger Binny, Kumble, Hon. Vice President Venkatesh Prasad and Srinath.

The Association, today, announcing the commencement of its Platinum Jubilee Celebrations, marks its journey from the early thirties to the present day cricket, encapsulating in it a message that truly stands for its virtue – ‘An association that is of the cricketers, for the cricketers, by the cricketers.’
