Music possesses one of the greatest powers in this world. It is said that the legendary vocalist in the Akbar court-Tansen had induced rains through his music! However, one needs to be passionate enough to integrate himself with the music. One such example in recent years is Ramachandra Achar!

For the last few days, Mr Achar was suffering from fever, cold and wheezing. However, this didn’t stop him from performing non-stop for three hours at the Raghavendra Swamy Mutt, Prakash Nagar on February 21.

Achar said that he was unwell since last week and the doctors had strictly advised him to take complete rest for at least a week. Added to this, the continuous travel across Karnataka for rendition of Dasara Padagalu made the matters worse for him.

However, large number of people who gathered to witness ‘Singer of Dasara padagalu’ were upset over the news that Mr Achar’s programme may be cancelled. Achar surprised everyone by presenting himself in the Mutt and gave a spell bound performance . When asked why he risked his health, Mr Achar had only line to say, “I may stop breathing but never cease to stop singing Dasara Padagalu.”

All we can say is that his concentration and oneness with Devotional music needs a big salute.
