Mishra brothers delight music lovers on a rainy evening

It was a “Baithank on Varsha” and true to the theme it rained both literally and in terms of the different tunes of raag malhar at Ravindra Kala Bhavan in Mangalore on the evening of July 25, 2013.

The famous duo of Hindustani music Pandit Rajan and Sajan Mishra the noted exponents of the Khayal form of Hindustani classical music regaled music lovers on a rainy evening  for nearly two and half hours.

In fact music lovers had come from far off places to savor the musical feast in waiting and the full hall audience at Ravindra Kala Bhavan was a testimony to the reverence and popularity  the music brothers enjoy among the lovers of music in this coastal town.

The programme that began at 7 pm continued till 9.30 pm and the pouring rain was like an icing on the cake as Mishra brothers sang the different versions Raag Malhar.

Mishra brothers began their concert with Raag Gowd malhar and followed it with mega malhar and Surdasi Malhar.   The duo then sang Durgan Bhajans  –  “Jai Jai Durga ma” and “Bhairavi Jagathame Jooti”, for which the Mishra duo is famous for.  At the end of the concert music lovers had a memorable time satisfied their quench for good music.

The programme was   organized by Sangeet Bharati Foundation Mangalore.  Mishra brothers were accompanied by Narendra L Nayak in Harmonium, Keshava Joshi in the Tabla, Basti Kavitha Shenoy and Nagkiran.  The programme was compered by Ankush Nayak.
