ENARADA, Mysore, August 17, 2013:

About 120 young boys and girls with dreams in their eyes and high hopes of finding a career in the glamour world of modeling sashayed to the rhythm of music to impress the judges and vie for the top honours at the Model Hunt 2013 held in Mysore today.

The model hunt conducted by Needle Works, a reputed fashion designer company was held at The Quorum Hotel on Vinobha road in Mysore. Enthusiastic participants in the age group of 16-28 took part in the prestigious event in a bid to try their luck to be groomed as model trainees.

Interestingly, it is the boys who outnumbered the girls by 5:1.

This is an unusual trend considering that it is the girls who always evince more interest in the glamour field of modeling. In this Model Hunt – 2013, out of the 120 youngsters there were only 20 girl participants, thus demonstrating that boys are bitten by the glamour bug in a big way and are equally interested in trying their luck in the modeling world. Participants from different parts of Karnataka including Chikmagalur and Gulbarga took part in the fashion show.

The jury to select model trainees included Television actor Karthik Jayaram, Miss India runner-up Chinu Kala, fashion choreographer Geetha Shetti and Mr Karnataka Suraj Gowda.

This is has been the third year of the Model Hunt programme organized by Needle Works, which is trying to groom fresh and new faces in the modeling field.

Proprietor of Needle Works and designer Jayanthi Ballal is quite ecstatic about the overwhelming response the event gets every year.

She says “I am delighted at the tremendous response we get for the Model hunt programme every year. Our main is to provide a platform for new faces and introduce them to the modeling field”.

Jayanthi further added “the selected youngsters will be thoroughly groomed for about 45 days in various facets of modeling so that they can find a niche in the challenging field of modeling as a profession. These selected youngsters will be taught swimming, cycling, fitness training, soft-skill training and personality development”.

Jayanthi is of the opinion that while youngsters in bigger cities get ample opportunities to shine in various fields, aspirants from tier-II cities are deprived of such opportunities.

As a result, many talents in these cities go un-noticed. To overcome this lacuna, Model Hunt was first started in 2011 by Jayanthi. The event received overwhelming response from participants and it was repeated in 2012. This has been the third year since the programme has been held and the organizers feel that the overwhelming response from aspiring youngsters has been the positive aspect of the event.
