Kokkada, February 13 ; The annual Modappa Seva ritual started today in the Southedka Ganapathi Temple situated at dakshina Kannada District, Belthangady Taluk, Kokkada Gram Panchayat, 70 Kms away from Mangalore. Large number of devotees thronged to the temple to participate in the day long celebrations.
The Ganahoma started at 10am and concluded with Mahamangalarathi with sumptuous lunch prasadam in the afternoon. Artists from Kerala who sounded a rhythmic bells and beating of drums created a festival atmosphere.
The main attraction ritual of immersing the Ganapathi , Veerabadra swamy and Vishnu deities with a special sweet called ‘appa’ will take place tonight and over 25 thousand devotees are expected to witness the grand program.
