Mysore house fire case, KSRTC driver held

Mysore, April13, 2013:

Police arrested one person   the prime accused in Udayagiri house fire case in which five people including a two-year old child were charred to death.

Based on a statement given by Reshma Anjum, one of the survivors of yesterday’s fire incident, the city Police have registered a case of murder against Abdul Shariff, a KSRTC Driver.

city Police Commissioner K.L. Sudheer had said that Reshma Anjum, in her statement, had also alleged that Abdul Shariff had been frequently quarrelling with her father over a financial feud and had even threatened to kill her father. She had also alleged that Shariff may have doused her father’s house with kerosene or petrol before setting it ablaze.

The deceased Ameer Jan had borrowed Rs. 3 lakh from him. Meanwhile, experts from Forensic Science Laboratory of Bangalore have conducted tests on the bodies of five victims to establish whether kerosene, diesel or petrol had been used to set the house ablaze.

The bodies of all the five victims were laid to rest as per rituals presence of hundreds of mourners including relatives from Kerala.
