Mysore university to tie up with a university in Bangkok

ENARADA, Mysore, October 3, 2013:

In a bid to strengthen its relations with South Eastern countries in the field of Education, Research and Training, the University Of Mysore is contemplating the idea of entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to set up a network with cooperation from Chulalongkom University, in Bangkok, Vice Chancellor Prof K S Rangappa said today.

Speaking to journalists here, he said that a six-member delegation of Chulalongkom University was here to study the facilities, infrastructure and other related aspects at various departments in the University to formulate the MOU which will be signed soon.

Dr Soonthron Chaiyindeepum, Deputy of Mission of Royal Thai Embassy in India, New Delhi, one of the delegates, speaking on the occasion opined that he saw a lot of scope for constructive development of relation between India and Thailand in the field of Education, Research and Exchange of knowledge.

Dwelling upon the tourism potential existing in Mysore in particular and India in general, Dr Soonthron said Thailand was prepared to invest in tourism in India on a large scale to which Prof Rangappa responded saying that the University will start a Master of Arts Course in Tourism from the next academic year on the lines of one being conducted in Mahajana College in the city.
