Metro commuters were left wondering as to why the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has suddenly revised the train frequency on Friday. Usually, the Metro train is to run at a frequency of three to four minutes during the peak hours and eight to 15 minutes during the non-peak hours. However, at Magadi Metro station on Friday, the destination boards were showing that the next train arrival times as “18 minutes”.

“I was hurrying up to my office and was badly hoping to catch a train at the earliest. However, I was shocked when I saw that the next train was arriving at 18 minutes later. I was wondering if there was a technical snag or a power cut which was forcing the train to be delayed by more than 10 minutes. However, then the security guard said that the wrong timing was shown due to the technical snag not in the track but in the destination board,” said Veeresh Kumar, a daily goer. Another regular Metro user Nancy K said, “Even I was shocked when I saw the train to be arriving in 18 minutes. So, I decided to rest myself in a nearby chair but even when the destination board was showing 11 minutes, the train immediately arrived and I had to rush to catch the train.”

When contacted, a Metro official said that a few of the Metro stations were having issues with destination board showing wrong Metro timing on Friday and they have rectified it by end of the day
