ENARADA, Mysore, July 7,2013:

The Director General & Inspector General of Police (DG&IGP) Lal Rokuma Pachau held a review meeting of the Mysore City Police at the Police Commissioner’s office here today.

New ideas to policing like using technology , changing the mindset of the police force to work from control room centric ,  implementing tried and tested methods,  updating the list of rowdy sheeters  etc., emerged in the meeting.

ADGP (Law and Order) M.N Reddy, addressing the officers, said that the entire Police force must function in a Control Room-centric manner and not in a Police Station-centric manner, by promptly responding to people’s calls pertaining to either traffic problems or law and order.

He said that the system of monitoring the law and order situation must be through the control room which must be ever alert to initiate prompt action.

“Since Mysore city is considered a sensitive area where communal unrest have occurred in the past, law and order of the city will be of top priority,” said Reddy and called upon the cops to be prepared round-the-clock.

He also called upon the officers to suppress the antisocial elements by keeping track of the recent offenders and rowdy-sheeters instead of following the old list of rowdies.

Police Commissioner Dr. M.A. Saleem, briefing his superiors about the Police Department of Mysore, pointed out that the three divisions namely Chamaraja, Krishnaraja and Narasimharaja were formed years ago when the city’s population was only around 50,000. However, now the population has risen to almost 10,00,000 and the number of vehicles too has risen, needing additional Police Stations and Traffic Police Stations.

Dr. Saleem said that he would be implementing traffic management system on the lines of Bangalore for which additional 150 Police personnel and 150 Home Guards would be required.

Since Mysore is the home constituency of the Chief Minister, there are a lot of expectations from the Police Department, he pointed out.

The DG&IGP assured to make provisions for additional Police Stations and more personnel.

Southern Range IGP Dr. Ramachandra Rao, DCPs and other officers were present.
