Members of various public organisations held a protest march today against constructing a recreation club by BJP leaders on a public Play Ground.
Protest was organised by Sports Ground Bachao (Save Sports Ground) organization with the active participation of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike and other organisations. The protest was held in the leadership of Nadoja Dr. Patil Puttappa. Protestors held a huge rally from Rani Channamma Circle to Tahasildar’s Office and submitted a memorandum to Tahasildar against the alleged Land Grab.
“Play Ground in Deshapandenagara was a public property from 1915. Jagadish Shettar misused the power of BJP Government in 2008 and restricted entry of public by laying a foundation stone for a recreation club” Patil puttappa alleged.
Patil puttappa further added that BJP state Unit chief Prahalad Joshi, his brother Govind joshi, BJP national leader Ananth Kumar and his brother, Former CM Jagadish Shettar and his brother Pradeep Shettar and other BJP leaders are members of the recreation club.
President of Sports Ground Bachavo , CBL Hegde said that the present value of the Ground will be Rs 144 Crores and his organisation will put all efforts to save the land for public use.
In order to save the play ground, the protesting public have come up with a novel idea to hoist the National Flag on August 15 and invited general public to participate in the program.
