ENARADA, Bangalore, September 1, 2013:

Well-known artists F V Chikmath, D M Badiger, K V Shankar, Manish Verma, Shekar Ballari and Jagadish Kadur not only showed their painting skills, but also pledged to donate their creative works towards the cause of eye donation.

In an effort to emphasize the need for donating eyes, Narayana Nethralaya, Areli Gallery and Orion Mall yesterday jointly organized a painting exhibition of renowned artists at the Orion Mall lakeside.

Jnanapeeth laureate and renowned Kannada writer Dr. Chandrashekara Kambara lauded the efforts of the organisers and the artists for their role in creating awareness about the need for donating eyes.

The event was organized on the occasion of the Eye Donation Fortnight, which is observed between August 25 and September 8, every year.

Kannada film industry veteran Parvathamma Rajkumar, Mr Vishal Mirchandani, CEO Brigade Retail & Commercial Space, Retired IPS officer Jija Hari Singh, and Mr Sunil Munshi, General Manager, Orion Mall Management Company Ltd were also present and pledged to donate their eyes on the occasion.

A painting competition for children on the theme of eye donation was also organized. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the competition.
