The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike expects all its citizens to pay property tax every year. However, all those prompt citizens who queue up to pay on time are always disappointed.

In fact, this has been a terrible year for the honest tax payer. Initially, the servers crashed forcing the residents to visit the offices more than once. While some of the residents had complained that they ended up getting wrong receipts. Now, the latest confusion is that many residents are unable to get the tax rebate despite paying on time.

Recently, BBMP had announced that it will extend five per cent rebate to the tax payers from May 30 to June 15, 2017. So, as the May was coming to an end, the residents went to banks to pay their dues on May 30 itself. However, due to heavy rush, many of the banks could not process the payments. Hence, the property owners were told that they can collect the payment receipts on May 31 and then submit it at the BBMP counters. However, the owners were in for a shock when they visited the BBMP Offices on Wednesdays as the BBMP servers were not updated to provide the mandatory five per cent rebate. The clueless property owners were left waiting at the BBMP offices hoping to get an answer.

Meanwhile, speaking to eNarada, a BBMP Official at ward no. 106, Dr. Rajkumar ward office admitted of the lapse and said that they were facing technical issues and would soon rectify the problem.
