Steps for comprehensive development of agriculture related fields: Renukaprasad

Head of the Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University, Bidar, Dr. C. Renuka Prasad, recently stated that the Veterinary University will also strive for the development of hen, fish and all other fields related to the agriculture along with veterinary sciences.

He was speaking after inaugurating the animal, hen, fish and agri fest in the premises of the veterinary university of Vinoba Nagar under the joint patronage of Karnataka veterinary university, animal and fisheries sciences university, Bidar, veterinary university, Shimoga, animal husbandry and veterinary services department, agricultural department, horticulture department, irrigation department and local organizations.

He stated that it was apparent that there is an imbalance in the production of milk in various districts of the state. He said the university was developing special, farmer friendly programs to balance this disparity but the farmers in Karwar and the surrounding areas are uninterested in engaging in dairy activities. He instructed Dr. M. Basavaraju, Dean of veterinary university, Shimoga to conduct a research for the reasons for the underdevelopment of dairy activities in this region and submit a report to him.

The university is actively engaged in educational and research activities for the welfare of the farmers. Along with this, there is also a need to provide a market for the crops of the farmers, he said. There are animal, dairy and fisheries colleges under this university and there are research centers working on many subjects such as animal breeds, buffalo, cows, fisheries and dogs.

District collector Vipul Bansal, who was present in this program released a memoir and said that the agricultural activities of the farmers is under stress due to atmospheric imbalance and many other reasons. This is the right time to undertake agricultural activities according to the changing conditions. He called the farmers to have a sumptuous, self dependent and happy life even in the face of a famine.

Extension Director Dr. K. N Prabhudev, Deputy Director Dr. R. Ravindra, Member of the executive committee Dr. D. R. Nagesh, Mukunda Varma and Dr. Vishalakshi V. Kareddy participated in the program as Chief Guests.
