Braving heavy breeze and drizzle, a sea of humanity turned out at the famed Chamundi hills on the occasion of the first ‘Ashada’ Friday.

As it was a special occasion, a team of 20 priests led by the head priest Shashishekar Dixit began special poojas from 3.30 am that included Rudrabhisheka, Panchamruta Abhisheka and Sahasranama.

The entire temple was decked up like a grape garden. To manage the huge crowd, private vehicles (except the VVIP) were banned atop the hill.

The city administration had arranged for special buses to ferry passengers from Mysuru to Chamundi hills.
While a few devotee associations had arranged free distribution of laddus to devotees, the others had arranged for free meals. The next Ashada pooja will be held on July 15, 22 and 29.
