Similar to popular kannada proverb , Undu hoda, Khondu hoda(He ate and took some too),  few people took home cash prize today after eating maximum staple food in the eating competition held in Hassan.

Hassan district administration had organised Hoysala Utsav, a festival to display rich culture and heritage of hassan district from January 6 to 11,2015. Interestingly, this festival is being held after a gap of ten years.

Today was the concluding day of the festival and  Ragi Mudde (Millet Ball) eating competition was held as part of the festival.

Asok Kumar of Kadadaravalli Hassan taluk ate five millet balls (2600 gm) to win the first prize, of Rupees 10,000 in cash, C.R.Ashok of Chowdenahali Channarayapatna won the second prize of Rs. 7000 and Huligowda secured the third prize  winning cash prize of Rs.5000.

Hassan Mega Job Fair 2015
With the objective of serving youth to get employment in the Hosysala Festival, District Administration, Hassan in association with Zilla Panchayat Hassan, Karnataka Vocational Training & Skill Development Corporation Bangalore, Directorate of Industries and Commerce(DIC) Bangalore and District Employment Exchange Hassan organised ‘Hassan Mega Job Fair 2015’ in District Stadium, Hassan on  January 9 and 10.

Around 100 employers from MNCs, IT, Automobile, Garment, Pharma , Retail chains, Research & Development, MSME, Food and religious sector participated and offered jobs to many youths on the spot.

The Chief Minister Siddaramaiah participated in the concluding session of Hoysala Utsava and issued appointment letters to the successful young people who were selected by companies in the Job fair.

“Hoysalas contribution to culture and arts is remarkable, even today tourists around the world visits Belur, Halebeedu to see the beauty of sculpture in Belur and Halebeed temples. Belur  has become a largest tourist spot after Mysuru,” said Siddaramaiah.

Poets express ire
Disappointed with the ill treatment meted out to them while organizing the poet’s meet for the Hoysala Utsav, poets used the platform to express their ire against the district administration of Hassan through their poems.
