ENARADA, Bhubaneshwar, February 6, 2014:
Dharmendra Pujari, a student of Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) has been awarded as the Best Child Artiste by the Govt. of Odisha for the telefilm ‘Kahani Nuhe’.
It is a film by Dr. Achyuta Samanta, sponsored by Dr. Iti Samanta, Editor of Magazine ‘Kadambini’ and directed by Shri Himanshu Khatua, eminent Director.
Dharmendra received the award from Shri Maheswar Mohanty, Hon’ble Minister of Culture, Govt. of Odisha at Utkal Mandap on February 6, 2014 in the presence of Dr. Arabinda Padhi, Commissioner-cum- Secretary, Department of Culture, Govt. of Odisha.
The State Telefilm Award was started in the year 2013. While he got the award for his role of ‘Laxman’, the film ‘Kahani Nuhe’ bagged the Best Telefilm Award.
Expressing his satisfaction, Dr. A. Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS said it is the first time a tribal boy has made history by winning the Best Child Artiste award in the film sector. It proves that given the chance tribal students can achieve anything, he said, adding that it is a matter of pride for the tribal community. Intellectuals from the community thanked Dr. Samanta and KISS for their effort towards tribal empowerment through education.
