Various organizations in the city took a protest march against the alleged harassment of lady ASI working in Pandeshwar police station by ACP T R Jagannath.
Organizations like DYFI, and the Mahila Daurjanya Virodhi Vedike along with the SFI staged a protest march in front of the DC’s office condemning the alleged harassment of the ASI. The organizations submitted a memorandum to the DC urging him to take strict action against ACP Jagannath.
Shreekala K T who is working as Assistant Sub-Inspector of police (ASI) in the city south police station had accused Assistant Police Commissioner T R Jagannath of mentally and sexually harassing her in a complaint addressed to the city police commissioner. The police commissioner has promised to look into her complaint and conduct a thorough investigation.
Shreekala has now moved to the Women’s Commission in this regard. She has filed a petition to the Commission saying the ACP was harassing her constantly while on duty making it difficult for her to work in office and manage her home.
In her petition she also alleged that the ACP was summoning her often to his cabin to show files unconnected to her and also punished her for not responding to her overtures by denying leave to her even though she produced medical certificates in this regard.
