Enarada, Bangalore, June 27, 2013:

Internationally renowned financial wizard, motivational speaker and green champion Nik Halik was in the City to motivate people from different walks of life.

As a part of his ‘motivation tour’, Nik took the time out to address the business management students of Koshy’s B School of Management Studies along with a few underprivileged students from Sukrupa, an NGO  at the Hebron Enclave close to KR Puram lake today.

The theme of his talk was ‘Importance of Living with Nature’

Nik Halik, in his one hour address and interaction with the students emphasised on how each one should live green. “Whether you live in the city or you live in the country, it’s easy to get caught up in our everyday lives. We are always on the go and rarely take the time to sit back for a few minutes.  If you take the time to watch these things, they will teach us something.”

“Nature tends to go with the flow. Nature teaches us to be pure and to keep our innocence no matter what changes take place. Nature teaches us the natural flow of birth, death and rebirth. Spring brings with it new life, Summer gives us joy, Autumn teaches us to slow down, Winter teaches us to sleep only to be revived by the sun again when it returns.”

“It is only when we respect Nature will we be able to co-exist with it. If we do not respect nature, the time will not be far when the world will get depleted of all its natural resources,” warned Nik during his interaction with the students here at the Enclave.

Nik reiterated that living green means to adapt green concepts into our homes and everyday living as well. Speaking on the importance of rainwater harvesting and the optimum utilisation of natural air and light in our homes, which allows us to bring the outdoors indoors, Nik said, “This will reduce the burden on energy like lights, fan and air conditioning considerably and thereby reduce our carbon footprint.”

“Besides being a financial and motivational speaker, Nik is also well known for his affinity towards nature,” says Preenand Premachandran, CEO, Hebron International. “It’s why we felt that the Enclave would be the perfect setting for his talk with the students, considering that the location is one of the very few in the country to be IGBC pre-certified for its green initiatives.”

The students listened with rapt attention; such was the power of his oratory. At the end of the session, he threw the floor open to interaction as well.

“The talk has opened our eyes towards how we are knowingly or unknowingly destroying our Mother Earth. Nik has reminded us that we have not inherited the earth from our ancestors but borrowed it for our children. It is our responsibility to give them a cleaner, greener earth to live in,” said  Junias, a Nigerian student from the Koshy’s B School.

enaradaAdded Shwetha, a final year student, “We should consider sustainable development in the city in the right way. Adopting green ways of construction as Nik said would make Bangalore a better to place to live in and probably get the city back its title of being a ‘garden city’!”
