ENARADA, Bangalore, January 9, 2014:

By dumping his earlier stand, Former CM B.S.Yeddyurappa merged his party Karnataka Janata Paksha(KJP) with BJP on January 9, 2014.

It can be recalled that Yeddyurappa did not want to return to BJP but devote time to strengthen his own regional political party KJP, instead.

With the merger of KJP, BJP gets an official ‘Opposition Party’ status. Both BJP and Janata Dal (S) had secured 40 seats each in the assembly election but opposition party tag was given to JD(S) due to its large vote share.

Along with B.S.Yeddyurappa, U.B.Banakar,  from Hirekerur constituency , Dr. Vishwanath Iranagouda Patil representing Bailhongal Constituency  joined BJP.  Another KJP MLA from Bidar constituency, Gurupadappa Nagmarapalli,  wants to join  BJP in a separate function in his home constituency.

Out of total six KJP MLA’s, B.R.Patil from  Aland Constituency and Guru Patil Shirval from Shahapur constituency are reportedly unhappy with the merger of the party with the BJP.
