Mysore, April 29, 2013:
Congress party today released the manifesto exclusively for the Mysore City . Opposition Leader Siddharamaiah who released the manifesto said that Congress is keen on improving the infrastructure of the Mysore city.
The manifesto has salient features on urban development, basic amenities, women and child welfare, agriculture produce marketing, development of industries, primary and higher secondary education, health and family welfare, science & technology and tourism.
The salient features on urban development include declaration of Mysore as Heritage City, creation of Greater Mysore and its development at a cost of Rs. 200 crore in the year 2013-14.
The manifesto also promises completion of the 9.5 km “missing link” stretch of Ring Road, up gradation of prominent roads, survey for metro or mono rail, covering five neighboring districts with Mysore city as the hub and preservation and rejuvenation of 110 water bodies.
Conversion of Malavalli-Mysore road into National Highway, setting up of Students’ Hostels for Minorities across the city, allotment of funds for skill development programmes, providing better facilities for SC, ST and OBC hostels, setting up of multi-level parking lots in at least 25 points, establishment of 10 new Police Stations, setting up of a bomb defusing unit, allotment of MUDA sites to those waiting for over eight years, building of Sthree Shakti building complexes in 10 places, a full-fledged fruits and vegetables market on M.G. Road, renovation of Devaraja, Vani Vilas and Mandi markets.
The manifesto includes establishment of circuit tourism authority comprising Mysore, Mandya, Kodagu, Hassan and Chamarajanagar districts at a cost of Rs. 500 crore besdies declaration of the area around Chamundi Hill as buffer zone and formation of a botanical garden at this space on the lines of the one on Ooty.
