Enarada, Mysore, July 2,2013:
The Union External affairs ministry will duly consider the long pending demand of stake holders to set up a passport seva Kendra(PSK) in Mysore , said P S Karthigayan, regional passport officer Karnataka , here today.
Speaking at the interactive session organised by the confederation of Indian Industry Mysore , he said that as many as 80 such proposals of opening of PSK across the country with the ministry and same has been sent to study in details to the National institute of smart government (NISG) Hyderabad . The NISG would submit recommendations and the final decision expected between September and October this year, he added.
He said that the regional office of the passport had already sent its recommendations to the headquarters at New Delhi for opening of PSK in Mysore in order to help the people of this region.
Referring to on line payment for the passport and appointment he said that the new system was introduced recently and assured appointment for the passport seekers. However, the applicant should appear on the date of appointment, otherwise, they will lose money as there would be no refund. A fresh payment and appointment is inevitable.
Over a period of time, the passport authorities may consider refund or adjustment to next appointment after a care full study on the drop outs , he clarified
On the question of the increase the pages passport, he said at present there was no demand of such things, however, the pages may be increased depends on the demand from the people with the permission from the union external affairs ministry.
Replying question on passport melas on the awareness on the news on line registration and other aspects across the state, the regional passport officer agreed that such melas would be organized in future.
He assured that the regional passport office in the state would be made more people friendly for easy process without any difficulty to avail their passports.
Earlier CII Mysore chairman S Nagarajan, said that the Mysore is the second city in the state which has already crossed the turnover of Rs 1000 crores in information technology sectors besides small scale and large industries. The long pending demand of opening of PSK in the city was justifiable to help the industrialists and people of this region.
Over 100 industrialists from the district took part in the interactive session.
