Bangalore, April 22, 2013:
The ruling BJP in Karnataka today sought immediate action by the Election Commission against KJP Working President V Dhananjaya Kumar for alleged violation poll code by making “false allegations” against senior party leader L K Advani.
In a complaint submitted to Karnataka Chief Electoral Officer Anil Kumar Jha by a BJP delegation, led by MLC and spokesperson G Madhusudan, the party sought “serious and immediate action” against Kumar for his “blatantly false and insinuating statement”.
ADVANI & MONEY
“The allegation made is that Advani and his children threatened B S Yeddyurappa, former Chief Minster, and his children and forcibly appropriated money from them. There is absolutely no reason for a national leader to demand money. These are baseless, irresponsible and false allegations which are not supported by evidence”, the BJP complaint said.
The party said Advani is among the most respected and tallest national leaders, adding, in all his political life he has never allowed his children to misuse his office even while he served as deputy Prime Minister.
“These false and baseless allegations are made in the belief of electoral gains in the form of fetching sympathy vote for the KJP”, it said. “These allegation made by the KJP leader is outrageous and outright amounting to criminal defamation. This false statement has the affect of misleading the general public. It also has the affect not only on the prospects of the BJP at the election, but also has the affect of tarnishing and defaming the clean image of Advani”.
These “false allegations” in blatant violation of the poll code, BJP said, requesting Jha to take immediate action against Kumar, under the election code of conduct and also take necessary “criminal action under intimation to us for further legal action”.
Madhusudan later told reporters that Jha assured to conduct an enquiry and take suitable action. “Let him (Kumar) produce proof and then discuss”, he added.
