Former Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda says that the results for the Urban Local Bodies (ULB’s) will set the trajectory for the soon to be held assembly elections. He was addressing the gathering after inaugurating the party’s poll campaign in the city with a rally from the party office to Town Hall, in the presence of a large number of BJP leaders and supporters.
Highlighting the achievements of Mangalore City Corporation during the five-year rule of his party he said “BJP has provided top priority for the urban development as more than 30% of the population lives in urban area. We have provided good roads, drinking water and improved drainage facility in the city during the five years of our tenure. The BJP gave a new dimension to the term development in this coastal belt”. Further he said that the party in the past five years of its rule has carried out development work worth more than 525 crores.
The party which released its manifesto promises reforms in municipal administration, transparency in administrative affairs, drinking water facility, steps to conserve water, door to door collection of waste, prepaid auto and taxi in prime locations, constructions of ring roads around all major cities and construction of flyovers and underpass for ensuring smooth flow of traffic.
