Mysore, May 26, 2013:
The government is planning to increase the interest free loans to farmers up to Rs 2 lakh and same would be included in the budget which would be presented in the first week of july , said H S Mahadeva Prasad, co-operative Minister here today.
Addressing the media persons he said the government also intended to increase the loans to farmers of all kinds and provide three percent interest up to Rs 5 lakhs . The previous BJP government had been giving interest free loans up to Rs one lakh and three percent interest up to Rs 3 lakhs. The decision has been taken in order to help more farmers in the state to avail loans for their farming activities, he added.
On the loans waiver to farmers up to Rs 25.000 announced by the previous government , he said the previous government have reimbursed only Rs 940 crores out of Rs 3600 crores to the concerned cooperative banks . The remaining amount has to settle by this government and the process already began in this direction, he pointed out.
He also said that the ongoing yashashivni health programme for the farmers in the state would be continued and the scheme would be extended to wide range of areas .
