Three students of Sanathana Natyalaya Chaitra S, Anjana T V and Raksha Bhaskar and other dance students of the institute presented sanathana nrithyavandana at the Town Hall on Sunday June 23, 2013 at 6 pm in the presence of a packed audience.
It was the sixth programme of a series of year-long programmes organized by Sanathana Natyalaya to mark its 30th anniversary this year.
The trio performed in group and also presented group and also solo performances and regaled the dance enthusiasts who had assembled in large numbers at the Town Hall. The programme also gave an opportunity for other young students of the institute to get an exposure and also to showcase their talent.
This was the sixth programme this year organized by the institute which provides a forum for students present their solo performance for public, who otherwise don’t get an opportunity to do so. Vidushi Srilatha Nagaraj, dance teacher of the institute says “It is the desire of every dance students to do their arangetram. It involves lot of expenditure and due to financial constraints many students are not able to do so. So every month we provide an opportunity for our students to give such a performance at a minimum cost”.
In these programmes students are required to pay only Rs. 20,0000/- and Sanathana Natyalaya bears all the expenses including the cost of booking hall, invitations and other expenses involved. Chaitra S one of the students who performed in the programme speaking to enarada.com said she is grateful to the institute for providing such a forum to mark her debut in dance performances. ‘I would not have dreamt of a better aarangetram than this considering that it is expensive. This is a god-send opportunity for me and I grabbed it”, she states as a matter of fact. The audience watched 1 ½ dance performance with avid interest.
Harikrikshna Punaroor presided over the function and Bhaskar Devasya, President of Jnanarathan Education & Charitable Trust Noddodi and Sudhakar Rao Pejavar, Organizing Secretary, Mallika Kalavrinda, Sri Kshetra Kadri were the guests of honour. Sudhakar Rao Pejavar was felicitated on the occasion for his social service and contributions to the field of art and culture.
