Mysore, April 5, 2013:
Noted tele serial director T.N. Seetharam today opined that only educating women in rural areas could bring them to the mainstream thus filling the vaccum between the rich and the poor.
He was speaking after inaugurating the 13th Working Women’s Convention organized by the Mysore division of LIC Employees Association today .
Stating that the rich feel insulted to use local products like tender coconut and instead consume bottled drinks and wear branded clothes, the poorer section of the society suffer because of lack of education and other facilities, more so in rural areas.
Once Mahatma Gandhi said ‘India will be really free when a lone woman can walk on the streets without fear at midnight’ but today women are being molested even in broad daylight, he regretted.
More then 200 delegates from the Mysore division attended the convention.
