The new Congress Government which offered a bonanza of 1 Kg of rice for just Re 1 for BPL card holders is contemplating offering a similar scheme for APL card Holders too.
“Our government is planning to give rice at a concession rates to Above poverty Line (APL) card holders in the state” , said Siddaramiah , chief minister here today.
Speaking to journalists in an informal chat in front of city congress office he said that the rice will be given to all APL card holders in the state less than the market price. Presently the market price of normal rice comes around Rs 25 to Rs 30; however, the government is planning to provide rice at the rata of Rs 9 to Rs 10. The BPL card holders gets 30 kg of rice at Re 1 per kg from June 1 as announced earlier, he added.
Referring to congress office condition in the city, he said that the new congress office would be constructed in separate place for which it had already having site for the same. The present office in the city market rented building was old one and could not accommodate workers whenever the functions or meetings organized, as it is not spacious.
on the occasion of the death anniversary of Rajivi Gandhi , CM offered flowers to the late former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi ‘s photos and recalled Rajiv’s services to the nation.
Siddaramaiah said that because of the Rajiv Gandhi’s efforts the information technology in the country has grown to highest level and the country earned a top place in the world.
Cooperative minister H S Mahadeva Prasad and women and children minister Umashri, MP, A H Vishwnath, Mla’s and large number of party workers and Sevadal workers took part in the function.
Later chief Minister Siddaramiah left for the periyapatna constituency for canvassing for the second day today.
