ENARADA, Mysore , March 8, 2014
On account of International women’s day, State witnesssed Rallies, Seminars, Protest and cultural programs.
An employee of a bank, Jyothi Uday inagurated the “International Women’s Day: Progressive Women Thinker’s Workshop” organised by Department of Women and Child Welfare. It can be recalled that Mrs. Uday had been attacked by an armed man few months ago when she went inside an ATM kiosk to draw money.
Members of various women organsiatiaons took out a massive rally in Mysore city today.
Over 3000 members belonging to Karnataka women’s federation, Samatha vedike, karnataka anti-women violence federation and other organsiations voiced their concern about the violence against women in the country. Music and dance which were part of the rally made the entire rally as colourful.
Women activists from Manipur, girl students from various colleges and the members of women self-help groups were also took in the rally which passed through main streets in the city. The rally was flagged by women’s right activist Meera Nayak.
In Gulbarga, Members of All India Mahila Samskritika Sangatane (AIMSS) staged a protest against portraying women in bad light in cinema. They went around in public places and teared cinema posters depicting content lowering the dignity of women.
In Hubli, Students of Government women’s Polytechnic celebrated the day by wearing colourful saries and spending quality time together.
