Sprinter Dutee Chand, a student of School of Law, KIIT University, was given a rousing welcome upon her arrival in KIIT and KISS today.
Dutee returned to Bhubaneswar on September 12, 2013 after a very successful outing in 53rd National Open Athletics Championships at Ranchi, where she won two gold medals.
The Sports Department of KIIT welcomed her as she reached Bhubaneswar at 8.00 AM. She was taken on a procession to KIIT University Campus.
Achyuta Samanta, Founder, KIIT & KISS felicitated her in front of 20 thousand tribal students of KISS. Informing the students about her success, Dr. Samanta said, she won gold medals in 100 m and 200 m race, which is a record for the state.
Dutee is third among seven siblings – six sisters and one brother. She is inspired by her elder sister, Saraswati Chand, she said, while expressing gratitude to Dr. Samanta for motivation, encouragement and support to pursue her dream.
