ENARADA, Bhubaneshwar, September 7, 2014

The three day 2nd KIIT University National Moot Court Competition organized by School of Law, KIIT University has been concluded today.

Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur and Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Patiala entered into final round. A five Judge bench comprising of Justice Altamas Kabir, Former Chief Justice of India, Justice Pinaki Ghose, Judge Supreme Court of India, Narayan Chandra Sil, Former Judge Calcutta High Court, Justice A. S. Naidu and Justice B. P. Das of Orissa High Court were presided over the final round of Moot Court.

Hidayatullah National Law University pleading on behalf of petitioner, while Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law pleading for respondent.

Each team presented their case with equal enthusiasm and spirit. Finally  Hidayatullah National Law University won the championship trophy with one lakh cash prize, while Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law got the first runners up trophy with Rupees 50 thousand and NLU, Odisha became 2nd runners up with cash prize of Rupees  25 thousand and a trophy.

Aman Dwivedi of Hidayatullah National Law University won the Best Student Advocate prize with the cash prize of Rupees 10 thousand. Similarly Best Memorial Prize went to NLU, Orissa and the team won trophy along with cash prize of Rupees 10 thousand.

Addressing the valedictory, Justice Altamas Kabir adviced the law students to be sincere and honest in their career and try to be trustworthy of the court. The young advocates in their initial practice, should prefer lower courts where they have enough opportunities to learn more legal processes, he said.

Prof. N.L. Mitra, Chancellor, KIIT University said, Moot Court is one of the dialectic forms of legal education. It is a process of learning. So the students who participates in Moot Courts should not be confined themselves to get a prize but they should participate with dedication.
