Star campaigners of major political parties had a field day campaigning in Dakshina Kannada district today sweating it out in the sweltering heat of summer. BJP’s leader who is also the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj was in Mangalore. Youth leader of BJP Varun Gandhi also addressed public rally in Batwal. For the Congress party actress Ramya who added glamour to the Congress party’s candidate in the city.
Sushma Swaraj addressed a press meet at Hotel Ocean Pearl said she is on the second leg of her campaign in the state and is happy to campaign for the party with three aspects namely gratitude, satisfaction and pain. Gratitude because the BJP could form the first ever government in south India, happiness as the party could give good governance and sadness as the infighting dented the party’s image to a great extent.
Actress Ramya provided the much needed glamour to the Congress party’s campaign in the district. Speaking to the press at the District Congress Office in the city, Ramya responded to a query on party hopping by celebrities saying it is the personal choice of the celebrities. She said campaigning by star campaigners would increase the party’s vote by five per cent.
BJP’s youth leader Varun Gandhi addressed public rally in Bantwal. He said that the entire nation is watching the Karnataka assembly elections and therefore it is vital that the people bring BJP back to power in these elections.
